City holiday

Maribor Day

On 20 October, the Styrian capital celebrates the Municipality of Maribor, the day Maribor was first mentioned in a written document in 1164. For the fourth year in a row, the Municipality of Maribor, together with cultural institutions and public enterprises, is organising a number of free activities and events for residents and visitors under the slogan: "Maribor Day - Connecting the citizens and getting to know our city".

The aim is to learn about the city's history, visiting different spaces and settings around the city, suburbs, parks and hills.

The Maribor Regional Unit of the Slovenian Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage is also taking part in the activities from 17 to 19 October 2025 with thematic guided tours of the sites.

In 2025, we are focusing on Baroque art, and together with the Maribor Regional Archives we have published a publication on the subject. Baroque Maribor.
