Military building heritage in Maribor
The military significance of the Maribor area is evidenced by the medieval name of the city, Marchburg, which means "castle in Marche" or "castle in Marche". "border castle". The town takes its name from the castle built on the hill known today as the Pyramid in the 12th century.
