8th European Days of Conservation-Restoration
Today marks the start of the 8th European Days of Conservation-Restoration. From 13 to 19 October, all over Europe - including here - we celebrate a profession that preserves the stories of the past.
This week, restorers and conservators are opening the doors of their studios and workplaces.
We reveal the work that usually remains hidden: the research, the materials, the patience of the hands and the quiet moments when heritage comes alive again.
At the ZVKDS Restoration Centre, we also want to show a piece of our everyday life.
We share with you a view of a restoration project that has been built up over time, expertise and a lot of dedication.
Because behind every work of art there is someone who listens to it.
Welcome to our world.
This time Jelka Kuret, Conservator-Restorer from the Department of Wall Paintings and Mosaics at the Restoration Centre, shows you the fresco The Battle of Sisak with Andrei Auersperg on horseback.

Two large paintings stood out due to damage: Autumn and Nature. The Bacchanalia and the Autumn needed a new support due to cracking and the resulting level shifts.
