We are collecting: photos of tourist huts and your stories of good times, adventures on the tourist or shepherd's work Great Alpine Mountains.
The Kamnik Intermunicipal Museum and ZVKDS OE Kranj are asking for your help.
In 2026, we will remember an architect, a conservator, a mountaineer, a mountain rescuer, a guardian of natural and cultural heritage, a pupil of Plečnik, a graphic artist, a designer, ... VLASTA KOPAČA.
He has devoted much of his time and creative energy to Velika Planina and, in particular, to the preservation of its outstanding architectural, natural and ethnological heritage. He also designed the tourist village on the mountain. We have less information from this work than from the shepherd's work, and less pictorial and documentary material, so we are asking for your help.
In the first half of 2026, MMK will organise an exhibition about the tourist settlement, where your photos and stories would be published, and ZVKDS OE Kranj will organise a symposium in autumn 2026, where we could also (with your permission) present the collected data.
material.
We collect:
PHOTOS OF TOURIST HUTS ON THE BIG MOUNTAIN
... individual buildings, the whole development, construction, interiors, various social or work events, spending holidays there, etc.
You can bring the material to the MMK or to ZVKDS OE Kranj, you can send it by post, we will scan it and return it to you. You can scan it yourself and send it to us by e-mail.
Please indicate who took the photo, who is in it and when it was taken.
AND YOUR STORIES
... about beautiful moments, about adventures on the tourist or pastoral part of the Velika planina. We would like to record these stories on film or audio tape. You can make them at our locations, but we would be happy to come to you. You can also write your stories and send them to us at janja.zeleznikar@gmail.com or sasa.roskar@zvkds.si.
We would be most grateful for your help and cooperation. You can also call us:
