During Cultural Heritage Week at Jesenice Secondary School the teachers and students will learn about the importance of beekeeping in different areas of life. Students of Health Care, Preschool Education and Engineering will carry out various activities in the form of workshops that will take place at school. The workshops will be led by teachers of general and professional subjects, who will connect beekeeping content with their field of teaching. The project will bring together teachers of Active Citizenship, Art, English, Slovenian, Maths, Music, Biology, professional subjects at Health Care and practical training in Engineering. During the workshops, students will make candle holders for beeswax candles, beehive panels, food and cosmetic products from honey. They will also learn about melliferous plants and the healing effects of apiculture products. As part of Active Citizenship, third-year students of all three technical programmes will connect beekeeping with the topic of ecology. The school choir will perform with an adaptation of the song Čebelar by Lojze Slak. At the end of all the activities that will take place during morning lessons, the students' work will be presented at an event in Kolpern, which is also a part of Jesenice's cultural heritage. All students and teachers of Jesenice Secondary School will attend the event. We will invite the mayor of Jesenice, representatives of the surrounding kindergartens, primary schools and local media to the event. The representatives of various beekeeping fields will participate at the event with a roundtable discussion. Its aim is to raise awareness among young people about the importance of beekeeping and bees. For this purpose, it will be possible to view the exhibition free of charge in Jesenice Youth Center during the week from October 2, 2023 to October 6, 2023.
