We are not alone in our work. When researching cultural heritage, working on buildings, making decisions and searching for solutions to preserve cultural heritage and its management, everyone can participate.

Conservation

Conservation as an interdisciplinary discipline combines all types of policies, strategies, legal, administrative and technical measures as well as tasks and assignments in connection with cultural heritage and its preservation. 

Conservation also includes the development of an awareness about heritage, its meaning and the conservation tasks owners and the general public should be aware of.

Restoration

Restoration comprises a variety of activities that are directly carried out on the heritage building or object with the purpose of facilitating its enjoyment, understanding and use. Activities are carried out in the event of a loss to the value or functionality of cultural heritage due to prior alterations or deterioration. Restoration activities are based on a respect for the original material and the historical context.

We are very pleased to announce that a new digital tool called Yesterday-today-tomorrow is now available to the public. The tool helps users to choose the most suitable solution for the presentation of archaeological heritage in archaeological parks or similar areas

The exhibition of Hamja Ahsan, the recipient of the Grand Prize of the 33rd Ljubljana Biennial of Graphic Arts, will be on display at the ZVKDS Gallery from 12 September to 21 November as part of the exhibitions and events of this year's Ljubljana Biennale of Graphic Arts entitled ISKRA DELTA.

The jubilee 50th edition of Varstvo spomenikov commemorates the publication on the conservation and protection of cultural heritage – Varstvo spomenikov.

The renovation work started on the 7th of September and was completed on the 3rd of October 2018, when the Aljaž Turret was returned to its rightful home to the top of Mt. Triglav.

The Aljaž Turret, a monument of national importance (heritage register number 5531) and one of the most recognisable Slovenian national symbols, is undergoing a full-scale renovation in September 2018.

In recent years Heritage Science has been successfully evolving into an important interdisciplinary scientific field, which includes modern research infrastructure and excellent scientists that are now developing E-RIHS – European Research Infrastructure for Heritage Science.

Preventive archaeology

Preventive archaeology is the concept of protecting archaeological heritage in an area. The goal is to document and protect as well as possible the archaeological heritage as an object, a site and a place with the help of non-invasive and less-invasive studies.

International cooperation and development

The IPCHS is an active member of numerous international institutions and associations. Together with its partners, it organises and carries out various international projects and assignments. It organises educational and promotional programmes, while, in recent years, it has devoted special attention to cooperation as part of their scientific research activities.
