Mission and Vision

Tasks of the Preventive Archaeology Centre

  1. to manage and carry out the preliminary archaeological research referred to in the first indent of the second paragraph of Article 34 and the third paragraph of Article 34 of the Act
  2. to ensure methodological and infrastructural development in the area of archaeological research and post-excavation procedures
  3. to manage and carry out preliminary archaeological research and post-excavation procedures on monuments owned by the state and financed by the state budget for culture
  4. to carry out research projects commissioned by the Ministry in the area of preventive archaeology
  5. to provide internships and supplementary training
  6. to provide work experience for those engaged in courses of study in conservation and restoration
  7. to develop public awareness of preventive archaeology.

(7) The Preventive Archaeology Centre also performs the following tasks which are not financed by the state budget for culture:

  • manages and carries out preliminary and other archaeological research and post-excavation procedures for the processing of archive material on archaeological sites, including publication, that do not belong under the second and third paragraphs of Article 34 of the Act
  • carries out training programmes
  • carries out research and other projects in its area that are financed on the basis of contracts.
