Obtaining Cultural Heritage Specifications

Annexes to the Application to Obtain Cultural Heritage Specifications for the Most Common Maintenance and Investment Maintenance Work

A specification of the conditions and a cultural heritage agreement must be obtained prior to work being carried out on cultural heritage.
The competent regional office of the Institute for the Protection of Cultural Heritage of Slovenia issues a cultural heritage agreement using the prescribed appendices, harmonised with the written specifications of the cultural heritage protection conditions obtained beforehand.

Work on the exterior

Renovation of facade:

  • inventory of planned works to be carried out as part of the renovation of the facade
  • the restoration programme for the planned restoration work

For the mounting of new elements on the facade, such as lights, signboards, inscriptions, bells and intercom systems, the following details must be submitted:

  • the position of the new element on the facade (1:50 scale)
  • a plan of the new element, with an inventory of all the envisaged materials (1:10 scale)
  • a plan detailing how the new element is to be affixed to the facade.

Painting of joinery and carpentry work (windows, doors):

  • If the maintenance plan envisages the painting of joinery and carpentry elements, the competent regional office must be notified in good time so that it may carry out ultrasound recordings and, on the basis of the results, determine the colour tone in which these elements are to be painted.

Replacement of joinery and carpentry work

  • Prior to the entire replacement of joinery and carpentry work, a scheme of the windows and an architectural record of all window types must be drawn up (1:10 scale, with lateral and longitudinal cross-sections).
  • The plan must contain drawings of all details to 1:1 scale (e.g. mullions, decorative end-slats, edge of the eaves, profile, microlocations of hinges and other metalwork).
  • On the basis of an approved architectural plan for joinery and carpentry work, a new piece is made. In this way, owners of individual floors can order a new piece at different time periods and from different contractors.

Balcony railings:

  • In the event of the disrepair of iron balcony railings, an architectural recording of the railings must be submitted to 1:10 scale, with all details to the same scale.

Renovation of roof:

  • An inventory of works must be submitted for roof renovation.
  • If new elements need to be placed on the roof for the purposes of better maintenance of the building (e.g. ladders for maintenance workers, smaller roof openings required for ventilation of the attic area, etc.), the microlocation of the new element must be marked on the graphic appendix and an architectural plan submitted (e.g. for the smaller roof openings).

Work on the interior

For the replacement of interior joinery and carpentry in common areas (passages, hallways, etc.), an architectural recording of the existing windows and doors, as well as an implementation plan for the new ones, must be submitted before the specifications of cultural heritage conditions can be issued.
For the connection of installations, the graphic representation should contain an indication of the method of connection of a specific installation and the microlocations of any openings.
